Next set of Canon lenses

Now that I’ve settled into the new Canon Digital Rebel XT, the net is that the flash is nice, the camera doesn’t feel so tiny anymore and the reviews are right, having a F/4 lense really is an issue for indoor shooting. I love the 24-105mm lense for general shooting but really could use F/2.8. Even though the IS stabilization helps for camera shake, it doesn’t help for people moving around. So Bob was right, the 24-70 was probably right. So word to the wise Bob is probably right, get the 24-70 F/2.8L is a better choice particularly if you don’t shake the camera that much.

But on to the next set of lenses, looking at wide angle for scenary and then telephoto for distance, there are a few choices:

Running longer, the 70-200 with a 1.5x lense factor, you get a huge 350mm lense which is just awesome. The choices are complex, but “The-Digital-Picture”:http://www.the-digital-picture.com/Reviews/Canon-EF-70-200mm-f-2.8-L-IS-USM-Lens-Review.aspx thinks its his favorite lense. “Luminous Landscape”:http://www.luminous-landscape.com/reviews/lenses/70-200is.shtml says its might be the best lense ever from Canon. Here image stabilization makes a big difference, giving you 3 stops of performance for handheld shooting. “Photo.net”:http://www.photo.net/canon/70-200 does a great overview of the three similar lense, 70-200 F4/L, 70-200 F2.8L and 70-200 F2.8L IS. The performance is great at the price of being really heavy and expensive.
