OK, I normally use DVDDecryptor, SmartRipper or AutoGK for the PC to backup up DVDs, for the Mac, it looks like “MacTheRipper”:http://mactheripper.org is the most popular at least according to the most popular list at “MacUpdate”:http://www.macupdate.com/popular.php
Another very popular one is “HandBrake”:http://handbrake.m0k.org which seems to be more like AutoGK in that it rips a DVD and then converts it into an MPEG4
