I’m going to be trying this bad boy out in a little bit. Thanks to lensrentals.com for making it easy. It was good to see what lenses to use as at 36MP, you really need good quality glass. I found the same last year with the Sony A7, you end up using lots and lots of primes because of the image quality. So DXOMark is a good overall resource for this, but here’s a nice collection:

• Nikon 200MM F/2. Wow how did they make sure a fast piece of glass. Really great for sports and with a 1.4x and 2x teleconverter, you get decent 300mm and 400mm equivalents in a small package.

• Zeiss Otus 55mm f/1.4. Ok this one is totally old school with manual focus, but the image quality is supposed to be amazing. 33MP on a 36MP sensor. Great for landscapes etc.

• Nikon 14-24mm. This is one of the very best zooms made and fills in the low end.

• Nikone 400mm F/2.8. If you really want to splurge, this $12K lense is supposed to be incredible and with the teleconvertors, you have a 800mm package, but it cost $600 a week to rent!

Finally with these huge images, it’s good to have fast SD and CF. Right now CF is still a bit faster at 160MBps rated with 90MBps achieved and they are about $2/GB for the high ones ($119 at Amazon for a 65GB card) while the 90MBps SDs are getting a true 70MBps. Good speeds on these things.
