Mountain Bike – News – Klein to replace Adept with Maverick-based design in 2003. The Klein design will be called the Palomino, and should hit stores for the 2003 season, and will replace the Adept platform. Klein’s Harry Spehar said there will be three bikes available, with kits based around Shimano LX, XT and XTR on the same frame. The Palomino will also be available as a frame only. Frame price should be in the $1300-$1500 range, said Spehar, with bikes ranging from “in the low $2000s to around $4000,” depending on final spec and production cost. Klein has already been assisting Maverick with its in-house frame production. Maverick’s own frames cost $2700 for the frame, shock, headset and special front derailleur.
