Livelink – Result Page for Internal Error #4238. Talk about obscure error messages. Got this while using my Blackberry and trying to synchronize contacts. The bad error message mumbles about a bad connection to the Exchange Server.
Digging deeper, it looks like there is some corruption in the Outlook contact file and you have to turn logging on and send it to Blackberry.
I’ve run the clean utility against Exchange and don’t see any obvious errors.

Internal Error 4238
Tong Family Blog: Blackberry Internal Error #4238. Darn it I got this error again. And of course I’m the number 1 site on google covering it. Talk about self-referential! In any case, Blackberry reports this error for Notes which I don’t have as well a…
Actually, Deleting the folder where it synchronises to (under data Folder setiings) seems to cause it to totally re-build and the error goes away.

I had this problem too, but I deleted Research in Motion folder in my c:\Document and settings\Application data. delete the whole folder completely, but close Desktop manager first. re-sync your device. that should download the lastest from from the server or recreate it by the device.

I’m using Outlook 2003 with Deleting (I actually just renamed the Intellisync folder) worked. Just close Desktop Manager, rename or delete folder, open back up resetup your PIM synchronization and then resync. Everything should resync fine without 4238 problem.
I received the same error message when synchronizing my Blackberry with Lotus Notes (Internal Error #4238.). I resolved this issue by un checking the “MemoPad” box and everything was fine after that.
Internal Error #4238.

Yep, I get the same error after having Blackberry installed yesterday. After investigation we traced it to synchronisation of the “Memopad” which seems to equate to Outlook “Notes”. Turn this off in the Intellisync options and the sunchronisation works fine.
