Man, this has gotten to be nearly impossible. Here are the issues. If you use your personal id for a developers account, you can only have one corporate account per. My personal Apple Id is locked to an old company and I’m not sure how to get rid of it.

The longer-term solution is to have a corporate id and a personal id. Note that with Google, they like this approach. With Facebook, they hate it as they want everyone to use their real identity (so you have to create a separate directory of real people with them). With Apple, they basically sort of half love it.

But here are the steps:

1. Apple wants you to have a real person as the super admin. It doesn’t work super well to have an admin account. Unless you create a fake birthday and so forth.
2. Note that when you create an account, by default you create two-step verification which is *not* two-factor authentication. This lets you tie your login to a phone number, but this is not enough, You actually have to turn that authentication *off* and then from your Mac or iPhone, turn on two-factor authentication.
3. The bigger issue is that Apple requires two-factor authentication for all accounts and right now iOS and Mac’s are not tuned for it. With the iOS you have to log in with your corporate id and turn on two-factor authentication and with your Mac, you have to create a temporary account and do the same thing and then delete. it. Argh.
4. Also note that when you do this, you can create an iCloud id in your IOS system and your Mac, but this is not the same as turning on 2FA from the iCloud administrative UI. Confused yet? There are two places where you can enter your apple id. One is the Internet Accounts area and the other is the iCloud area. You need the latter not the former.
5. You probably only want your Mac to be the second factor because the iPhone is really a pain. As an aside when you sign out of iCloud on your personal phone, it is going to take a long time as it deletes basically everything from your device. This is a good incentive to have a developer phone in addition to your personal one 🙂 It also wipes out all your ApplePay cards too.

Once you are done with this, you need to make sure your company has a Dun & Bradstreet number. You can look it up and if not, you need to call them and it will take two weeks to verify you. If you are a for-profit business, they will also verify ownership of your web address.
