A good buddy of mine was asking about fun quick trips in China. While there are many, hat top to Duane for these two suggestions:
1. Cruise of the Li River and spending a day or two in Yangshuo, a very scenic and unique town at the end of the cruise. This would be a 4 day trip.
2. Ride the newly completed rail line to Tibet. This is the world’s highest altitude train and it takes you from Beijing to Lhasa on a 50 hour journey. The rail link was just launched last week and the ride in Tibet was just spectacular. This could be a week long journey since most people can’t go about their normal activities right after arriving and it takes a day or so to adjust to the high altitude (4,000 meter above sea-level). I want to do this myself.
