I had always thought that this was pretty much a lost cause. I have quite a few corrupted JPEG files. I had a bad RAID array and it wiped out a bunch of files. Now with scrubbing and more reliable drives, I hope this doesn’t happen anymore, but it looks like there are some programs I can try according to TechRadar:

  1. Stellar Phoenix JPEG Repair. Got about 62% of the files back. Most of mine are corruption in the middle, but it even got some of those.
  2. JPEG Recovery Pro. 42% and easy to use
  3. Picture Doctor. 64% costs $99.

All worth a try.
