Mountain Bike – Daily Bread – Gear Queer The most expensive saddle race continues
Until recently, the leader of the most expensive saddle race was the very comfortable, $180 Fizik Aliante. That was until I came across the $275 Selle San Marco Era Composite. Tubular titanium rails, carbon/Kevlar shell and superlight foam covered by a nylon weave. Claimed weight is 128 grams, though on our scale, it weighed 140 grams. If that’s too much cash for you, try the $100, 160 gram Aspide. While you’re at the SSM site, check out the ERA R1, a saddle/post combo that allows on-the-fly fore/aft adjustment. www.sellesanmarco.com
