Ludwig told me about places where there are blog portals. A quick web search revealed these sites:
* International Blog Meetup Day. There is actually someone coordinating meetings of blog folks.

yes, we do meetup in Seattle, every month!
but meetup.com is a commercial thing aimed at orgnizing meetups for a zillion different affinity groups (and getting kickbacks from the venues). you get the benefit of them finding the places, keeping track of the voting, sending reminders, and so on. the downside is they might cancel the meetup if not enough folks RSVP, or movie it at the last minute (happened to us last fall).
