So it looks like if you are using a connector based stand, you have to stick with an official Apple cable…
I took a close look at the build quality of everything I tested and discovered a major issue with third party cables, even those that are certified: the connectors are fat. Just how fat varied by maker, but all of the third-party options I considered have slightly larger ends than Appleâs cable. I tested using iPads and iPhones housed in a variety of cases, and some of the fatter connectors were simply too large to fit some of the cases. If you have to take your phone or iPad out of its case to charge and sync, thatâs an immediate dealbreaker.
